Cardassian Union Outposts and Support Facilities
Litvok Nor |
|
---|---|
Long considered mythical, Litvok Nor was a Cardassian Nor Class outpost that had been constructed in the Maelstrom in the mid-24th Century to serve as Sector Command Base for Cardassian forces in the region. Despite its importance, Starfleet and Klingon forces were unable to confirm its existence until 2378 when the station was towed to Alioth VI by Cardassian separatists as part of the Kessok Incident. A joint Romulan-Klingon-Federation strike force destroyed Litvok Nor and captured the Alioth system not long after. The remnants of Litvok Nor remain in orbit of the planet. | |
Savoy Station |
|
Orbiting Savoy I, Savoy Station is a Federation Orbital Office Complex that was constructed as a diplomatic hub for Federation efforts in the Maelstrom and was also used for stellar research and starship support. During the Kessok Incident the station was briefly captured by the True Way, Cardassian insurrectionists, and was later recovered by a Starfleet Task Force led by the Sovereign. When the Federation abandoned the Maelstrom following the Federation Day Massacre the Cardassians reclaimed Savoy Station as a forward operations base. | |
Tezle Supply Depot |
|
Located on Tezle I, the Tezle Supply Depot was constructed by the Dominion shortly after the establishment of their alliance with the Cardassian Union to serve as a Ketracel White distribution site. At the conclusion of the Dominion War, the Tezle Supply Depot was abandoned and later recovered by operatives of Legate Matan's True Way to serve as a military command base. Starfleet forces, led by the Starship Khitomer, were able to capture the base and return it to the legitimate Cardassian government in 2378. | |
Vlulyr Tuok |
|
Located in orbit of Prendell III, Vlulyr Tuok was constructed as an Obsidian Order black ops site in the mid-24th Century and was used as an interrogation center of high priority targets during the Dominion War. At the conclusion of the Dominion War the Treaty of Bajor specified that Vlulyr Tuok be decommissioned and abandoned; however, the station was recovered by agents of the True Way shortly afterward and was used against Federation forces by renegade Legate Matan during the Kessok Incident of 2378. The station was heavily damaged during the Incident by the crew of the Starship Sovereign and abandoned once more. |
Independent Outposts and Support Facilities
Biranu Station |
|
---|---|
Constructed in orbit of Osa (Biranu II), Biranu Station is a Regula Class outpost established for starship support and resupply by the United Federation of Planets. In the late 2370s Biranu Station was heavily utilized for scientific and commercial operations within the Maelstrom, but came under fire during the Kessok Incident and was abandoned after having been attacked by Cardassian insurrectionists. The station was later transferred to the Federation Colonial Administration, but was again abandoned following the Federation Day Massacre. It is currently operational as a commercial station, but is not aligned with any particular government. | |
Geki Station |
|
Constructed in orbit of Vesuvi V, Geki Station is a Regula Class outpost that was built for starship support and resupply in cooperation with Haven Station by the United Federation of Planets. When the Kessok Solarformer was detonated in the late 2370s Geki Station was heavily damaged and abandoned by Starfleet, but was later recovered and repaired to help with investigation of the Vesuvi Dust Cloud. When the Federation abandoned the Maelstrom in 2385, Geki Station was once again abandoned and later recrewed by colonists from the Haven Colony. | |
Haven Station |
|
Haven Station is a Federation Orbital Office Complex, located in orbit of Vesuvi VI, that was created to oversee terraforming operations within the Maelstrom. A small station, Haven also served as a cargo hub for all colonies within the Vesuvi System. During the Kessok Incident the station was heavily damaged, but was recovered by the Starship Dauntless. Haven would later become a key participant in the Romulan Relocation Initiative, but was heavily impacted by the Federation choosing to withdraw from the Maelstrom following the Federation Day Massacre which led Haven Colony and Haven Station to become independent. | |
Lya Station |
|
Built in orbit of around Alberia III, Lya Station is a Federation Orbital Office Complex. During the Kessok Incident the station acted as the location of peace talks and was a frequent target of Cardassian insurrectionists and would later serve as a key gateway for the Romulan Relocation Project. When the Federation cancelled the relocation following the Federation Day Massacre the station was transitioned to the Romulan Star Empire, but they ceded control after the destruction of Romulus. Lya Station is still operational as a commercial station, but is not aligned with any government. |
United Federation of Planets Outposts and Support Facilities
Deep Space 12 |
|
---|---|
Located in orbit of the New Holland colony near the Federation/Cardassian border, Deep Space 12 is the Federation command base for the Maelstrom Sector and surrounding territories. A Spacedock Series outpost and originally christened as Starbase 12, the station served with distinction during the Dominion Wars and the Kessok Incident of the 2370s; however, following the Federation Day Massacre of 2385 and the Federation's decision to focus on existing territories, the station's operations were scaled back and it was rechristened as Deep Space 12 to represent its diminished status. | |
Tau Ceti Shipyards |
|
Located in orbit of Tau Ceti the Tau Ceti Shipyards are a modestly sized United Federation of Planets aligned shipyard located on the outskirts of the Maelstrom Sector. Located centrally in the shipyards is Soho Station, an Orbital Office Complex that provides starship support and serves as the operations center for the Starfleet drydocks located at the Tau Ceti Shipyard. |
