Mission: Short Treks
Location: Dreagos Memorial Parkland
Timeline: 2399-09-19, 19:00

The ceremony for the change of command of Deep Space 12 was beautiful. Housed in the center of the Dreagos Memorial Parkland, the entire program was one of pure pomp and circumstance for all who were in attendance. There were the traditional long-winded speeches, holographic fireworks among the simulated twilight, and even a Vulcan children's choir. It all culminated in one short exchange.

"Attention to Orders," called out the Bolian Captain of the Starship Khitomer.

Vice Admiral Gregory MacCray approached the podium with Commodore Dazad standing nearby. The retiring Vice Admiral set a PADD on the podium and looked out at the crowd with the fakest smile imaginable on his face as he tried to hide his inner turmoil. He spoke in a measured tone to try to keep himself as protected as possible, "To Vice Admiral Gregory MacCray, Commanding Officer, Deep Space 12. You are hereby requested and required to relinquish command of your outpost to Commodore Dazad Targaryen, Commanding Officer, USS Khitomer as of this date. Signed, Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy, Starfleet Command."

MacCray turned to face his successor, "Computer, transfer all command codes to Commodore Dazad Targaryen. Voice authorization: MacCray Whiskey 9 Tango 7 Foxtrot 5."

A series of disembodied beeps and tweets echoed throughout the park, "Transfer complete. Deep Space 12 now under command of Commodore Dazad Targaryen." A Bosun's whistle closed out the confirmation.

"I relieve you, sir," Dazad informed standing adjacent to the Vice Admiral as he extended his hand.

MacCray shook the other's hand, "I stand relieved."

People began to applaud among the gathered crowd and then begin mixing, talking and helping themselves to the various foods and drinks. The Commodore looked at the group from the stage, letting out a breath of relief.

Dazad nodded, politely, to MacCray, "Thank you for everything."

MacCray said nothing in response and walked away.

Ace was both sad and excited by the Changing Of Command Ceremony. Sad that it was the end of an era, but excited because she was a part of the beginning of a new era! Ace walked over to a buffet table with Archec, selecting several different dishes before grabbing a cold Juju bean float. "What did you think of the ceremony?" Archec asked as the seven of them found a section of grass to sit on. "I'm sad because an era has ended, but I'm also full of hope because it's the start of a new one and I get to be a part of it!" Ace swirled her float. Archec laughed. "Quite the diplomatic response, Ace! Although, is that all?" The way Archec looked into Ace's eyes sent a shiver of impending doom through her. "Archec! Stop scarring the poor girl!" Archec's wife, Numa, admonished, smacking Archec sharply on the shoulder. "I'm sorry, my dear! I couldn't help it. You must forgive me, Ace, I'm quite mean sometimes," Archec apologized. "It's ok. In fact, it's actually a fair question...I just don't know the answer yet," Ace gazed off over the park, wondering just how big of an adventure she had stepped into.

Commander Brell just watched as the man who had given him his chance to forward his career stepped aside in favour of someone younger, the intention to enjoy his retirement. Although if Iy'dan knew anything about Gregory McCray, his retirement wouldn't be a restful one. The man would seek out adventure and trouble.
The Trill first officer joined in the applause, celebrating a man who deserved them three fold and more.

Vincent watched the whole ceremony, applauding along with the others, beaming also with pride, as his husband was the first officer. He was pleased about this as it was something Iy'dan had dreamed about.

Addison was clapping along with the others, getting a view of the person who she will be working with, Commodore Dazad. What will he be like to work with? And then there was the other part of the command team, a Commander Iy'dan Brell who was also a scientist. Perhaps their paths will cross from time to time, for both due to her field, or shall it be said, her fields of study and profession. She gave a bit of a smile, Addison will be meeting both of them very soon.

Having watched his predecessor walk away, Commodore Dazad knew that it was time to being the next phase of operations for Deep Space 12 and the Maelstrom itself. Tugging on his uniform jacket, the Commodore carefully looked around the cultivated scene of the park surrounding him. The Eden that existed here was something to fight for, something to strive for, and they would do just that.

"Commander," he called out to his Executive Officer. "I think that we can prepare to draw today to a close. I'd like you to arrange for me to meet the Senior Staff though prior to our beginning our official mission. The rest of the company may depart."

"Aye sir... I'll schedule a meeting for tomorrow morning. Give you time to settle in!"
Iy'dan had moved over to stand closer to his new senior officer, already sensing this man had an entirely different approach but still the same energy to explore.

"Thank you, Commander, I look forward to it," the Commodore answered.

Lela walked in not knowing anyone but had seen what was going on, as she did not say much. she wanted to get to know everyone.
