Mission: The Dream
ON
The transporter effect started to fade rapidly, falling away like rain on a summers day that evaporated at the gentlest kiss of the suns rays until in it place stood a tall, lean man with the knife like ears of a Vulcan. His hair shorn almost to the scalp but long enough to show his hair to be that of an auburn hue, almost to the point of being bright red.
Almost imperceptibly her expression softened at the sight of her mate.
"Mo'Teck, parted from me and never parted, never and always touching and touched." she greeted him, stepping forward as she extended her hand, her forefinger and middle finger extended, the intention to allow their fingers to touch, the only outward sign of affection a Vulcan couple could display in public.
"Sotra, parted from me and never parted, never and always touching and touched," The stoic Vulcan male responded reaching out his own fore and middle fingers towards his mates. Aware that the alien transporter chief was watching he broke the touch earlier than had been done in the past.
"Mother sent you this." He indicated the small wooden container and held it out towards his mate. Inside was a jewelled headband. A non too subtle message that his parents wished they wed soon.
"I assume the wedding is the reason for your presence here?" She asked, wanting to pull him close and kiss him. She may be Vulcan but she still had emotions, as cumbersome as they were.
"Your assumptions are correct," Mo'Teck stated in affirmation. He too also wanted to be somewhere quiet and alone with her. "And to inform you that I have taken up a position as a civilian on board. It will allow us some time together to both plan and start our marriage."
It was a little un-vulcan like to surprise her but she had been difficult to get in touch with since the Borg invasion in Starfleet. The news had reached Vulcan and his family were most concerning.
"An intoxicated human on the transfer over here suggested I was to jump out of a cake at you," he said his head twitching ever so slightly to the left in confusion. The transporter chief tried to ignore it but failed as he heard a low by distinct human laugh next.
"Would that not be an unnecessary waste of food and cream is most unpleasant after it sours".
She started to lead him from the Transporter room and towards their quarters which thankfully would be more than ample for two people. "We have a number of open civilian positions. I am assuming it will be relating to your skills with the Vulcan Martial Arts?"
“It would only be logical. I will be teaching some classes,” he affirmed as they stepped into a turbolift. “I have yet to select what will fill the rest of my time. Perhaps I can study something new while you are tending to your full time duties.”
"You have always been quite adept at the art of diplomacy and the Federation would no doubt be seeking to place you in a suitable location. Possibly even here given the nature of our mission".
She wanted to reach out and touch his hand, interlace her fingers between his, to feel his breath on her neck.
She shook the thought away feeling a slight increase in the ambient temperature, or so she chose to believe.
He cocked his head slightly taking in her words. “Should the opportunity arise to stay that would be agreeable and ….” His fingers slid down to his side brushing hers once more as the turbolift doors closed finally alone, “allow for us to focus on starting our family.”
"Indeed" she said in return coolly but the touch was like electric arcing between two charged points. If there was any doubt of her feeling towards him then let them doubt. In her heart, the one she reserved for him and him alone she not only loved this man but she had passion for him as well.
"I will of course need to ensure there is room in the closet for your belongings. I appear to have accumulated much over my time in Starfleet".
"That is an unnecessary consideration. I have not brought much clothing with me," Mo'Teck said.
"If you do intend on remaining is that not unwise?"
She remarked as the turbolift came to a stop and allowed them out on the deck that her, now their quarters was located.
"Mother is concerned that our wedding will not occur due to the length of our betrothal. I travelled light with the view of she would bring the remainder when she travels to us to attend to alleviate her concerns," Mo'Teck said simply. "And I have not accumulated many possessions."
The truth was everything he had required in his life on Vulcan up to this point he had. "Any new possessions acquired it would be logical upon our joining that they will be "ours" not "mine", he said.
She stopped before a pair of doors that parted on her approach but she allowed him access ahead of her, gently taking his carry bag from his shoulder as he passed so she could place it on the sideboard just inside the suite of rooms.
She turned to look at him once the doors had closed securely behind her. Now they were in private she would permit herself the indulgence of entertaining her affection that she felt towards the man before her. He was far from the stereotype of a Vulcan with close shaven hair of a copper colour, intense green eyes and a jawline that would make the most swoon.
She moved forward, placing a hand on his, lacing her fingers between his as she had wanted to do on the journey to their quarters before leaning in to kiss him, gently but through the act alone conveying how much she did love him.
Mo'Teck responded in kind. Further conversation on their nuptials could wait. Working on their relationship was the priority.
