Mission: Begin Again
Location: USS Geronimo
Timeline: 2399-09-21, 10:00

Lieutenant Commander Ila Emeris was sitting in the center seat of the Starship Geronimo waiting and if there was one thing that she was never good at it was waiting. Recently assigned to serve on Deep Space 12 as the Executive Officer of the Saratoga, she had received a message from Commodore Dazad asking her to report aboard the Geronimo to assist them on their upcoming mission. She just hoped that the mission wasn't going to be boring.

Having got her start in security, Ila's career had been a series of adventures up until she chose to pursue command as a career path. While she had impressed many with her style and strategic mind many still harbored concerns about seeing an Angosian in the center seat. Ever since her people had joined the Federation, after abandoning their super soldier program, the scorn of their belief in genetic engineering had still not been lost. Even though she was unenhanced people often treated her as if she were.

Removing the datapad from its berth in the console to the right of her chair, the Acting Executive Officer started scrolling through the mission profile. The Kessok certainly sounded like an interesting species, albeit a bit xenophobic. She hoped that they played nice on this mission because, if they didn't, she would be ready for them.

The ride in the turbo lift gave Iy'dan the moment he needed to gather his thoughts and box away his worries and concerns in a tiny corner of his mind. Although he carried the rank of Commander now this would be the first time he would be sitting in the 'big' chair of a Starship. His career had been mostly locked away in a science lab or as the first officer of a Starbase which in and of itself was an entirely different beast to command.

The gentle hum of the turbolift started to dwindle, meaning this moments peace was reaching its close.
'Confidence Iy'dan... Confidence! Yos'zim whispered from the recesses of the Symbionts previous hosts. She had always been a huge comfort and support to Iy'dan and although her career had been something entirely adjacent to the one Iy'dan now found himself in, he had found her experience and covering how she really felt and the self confidence that now seemed inherent within Brell's psychological makeup had been of greater help to him than anything any of the other hosts had brought to the table.

The doors parted and the hushed tones of the equipment did also bring some form of familial comfort. It didn't sound much different to station ops.

"Lieutenant Commander Emeris I believe?" striding with the confidence Yos'zim had bestowed. "Commander Brell. A pleasure to meet you!" reaching the command area and the three chairs reserved for the command officers.

The Lieutenant Commander turned to see the Trill Commander who had greeted her, "Nice to meet you, Commander Brell. Welcome aboard Geronimo." She said it with the authority of someone who had been aboard the ship for ages, not someone who had just come aboard herself. She was going to speak again she she noticed the other newcomer.

Fee was next to cross the threshold, her dumb purplish-grey tunic eating her alive. She was too small for the women's uniform, and they didn't make kids' sizes and she didn't have time to take them in yet. Oh, well, at least it was a thing. She held a PADD in her left hand (her dominant hand), and took a stand near the back.

"This ship is quite large," she said, in a low tone, nervously. She had been up all night; she always found it hard to sleep in a new place for the first few days, and even harder when she didn't know what to expect from day to day. That's why she preferred Starbases, they were the same daily routine.

"Indeed it is," the Angosian answered stoically. The Geronimo was an older model Akira Class Starship that was scheduled to be refitted, but had be delayed by Admiral MacCray and now the mission Commander Brell was to undertake. She hoped that if they entered into combat it would be able to withstand whatever came their way, but she wasn't holding out hope.

"Whistle! This place is GREAT!" Ace breezed onto the Bridge in a distracted state, twirling around until she noticed that there were others on the Bridge...and froze. "Um...I...Sir!" Ace came to attention and stifled a gulp.

Commander Emeris noticed the new arrival on the Bridge and nodded, politely, to Commander Brell as she heard an alert come from her Tactical Station. "Excuse me, Sir," she said as she returned to her station to login, allowing the Commander time with the rest of his crew.

Fee spoke up in her regular voice; never loud enough, anyway. "I am off to science to start the atmospheric checks unless I am needed here."

The turbo lift door opened with a quiet swish, and Addison stepped out from it. She had her blue smock the only thing that would even be close enough to being a uniform, for her to be looking official. Beneath the smock she wore her customary black slacks and a blue long sleeved tee shirt, and currently black sneakers. One thing however, Addison wasn't certain where she was supposed to be, so went instead to an out of the way place on the bridge, just to keep watch over things. "Good morning everyone" Addison called out, a jovial smile upon her face.

"Good Morning, Doc!" Ace chirped as she relaxed and headed to her station.

Emeris returned to the Captain, "Captain Brell, Docking Control has cleared us for departure when you're ready."

"Thank you Commander... Helm clear all moorings, engineering disengage umbilical's and bring the warp drive to standby."
The orders seemed so natural and correct yet seemed almost alien coming from his lips. Slowly moving from his vantage point towards the rear of the bridge, casting a very brief unsteady 'I have no idea what I'm doing' look at the doctor before proceeding to command, really command for the first time.

The command chair was behind him as he dropped down into it, finding it was less intimidating than he had once believed. "Aft thrusters to one third, port and starboard to station keeping. Ease us out!"

Fee stood near the back, prepared to help if needed but she was astrometrics; if they had needed to know the atmospheric pressure or something, they were fresh out of luck.

Commander Emeris watched the viewscreen as the massive spacedoors began to approach, "Activating automatic release of spacedoors." The Angosian woman typed on the display panel, the computer quickly responding to her commands as the colossal doors began to slide apart revealing the stars beyond them. "Lieutenant Tidebreaker, please load preprogrammed navigation point for the Kessok Colony at Omega Draconis."

"Aye, Captain," Ace smiled as she set the course. Ace was barely able to contain her excitement at the new adventure they were about to embark on!

"Looks like we're on our way for discovery, and that will be good." Addison had a secretive smile when she looked at Commander Brell, what it was for, her secret smile? Time will tell.

When the ship reached beyond the space doors, the quiet sound of the turbo lift door opening could be heard and someone stepped onto the bridge, he was wearing a blue smock, much like Doctor Talbert, "Reporting for duty, Doctor."

Addison smiled, and turned to greet the arrival. "Ah Mister Sinclair, you made it just in time."

Vincent Sinclair gave a smile to Addison, giving a sidelong glance towards his husband. He had eagerly jumped at the offer from Addison, she felt she needed another person who had medical skill and she asked for him to be part of her team.

The Executive Officer and Acting Chief of Security was surprised by the newcomer. She checked her panel, "We have cleared space doors." She looked at the Captain, "Captain?"

Iy'dan was caught in the middle a double take by Commander Emeris, his surprised barley concealed as his eyes went wide.
"Yes?" he said, snapping his attention back to the first officer and then focusing on the main viewscreen. "Yes, set course as planned and engage at warp six... Commander Emeris, you have the bridge!"

The Trill rose from the command chair, attempting to reign in his surprise and sudden feeling of discomfort knowing his Husband would be on the mission along with them. He would have rested far easier knowing he was away from the danger.
"Join me in the ready room!" he whispered to his Husband as he went.

Vincent gave a nod and followed after him, after a half a heart beat. He cast a glance at Alison who gave him an encouraging nod.

The Executive Officer remained at the Tactical console as the Captain and the new arrival moved off into the Ready Room. the Angosian crossed her arms, curious at what was happening behind those closed doors. "The Captain did not seem happy to see the new arrival."

"That's his husband," Ace said simply, understanding the look the Captain had given the doctor.

"Mister Sinclair is quite a capable man which is why I had asked him to come with." Doctor Talbert answered.

The Angosian stayed stone faced as she answered, "I suppose that explains the surprise then. This may prove to be an interesting trip after all."
