Expecting to find a graveyard, the landing party instead finds survivors who haven't aged a single day since their disappearance. The survivors credit their longevity to the planet's lush flora, but beneath the vibrant canopy of the forest, the Saratoga’s sensors pick up spatial anomalies that point to a far more localized source of their youth.

As the crew pushes past the survivors' increasingly violent resistance, they uncover the dark truth: the "miracle cure" is an enzyme harvested from a race of bioluminescent, interdimensional beings. These creatures, playful and highly intelligent, exist slightly outside of normal space-time, and they are being hunted to sustain the survivors' immortality.
