The doors parted and closed equally as quickly as Iy'dan entered the room. He had not sensed the presence of the person behind him as he approached the desk, turning the table top display to start a subspace comm channel with the starbase.
"Computer, Jasmine tea, hot. Dash of honey"
The shimmer of the replicator illuminating the already dark room which was only light by two sconces on either side of the desk. The call finally going through he grabbed the tea and moved behind the desk finally, the frame of Doctor Addison Talbert surprising him for a second.
"Doctor, I didn't hear you come in. I'm sorry!"
Addison moved further into the ready room. "If you don't mind, I'd like some of the tea you just ordered. And I was concerned for you. After all you have had quite a few surprises." a bit of a smile appearing. " I believe that you handled that situation with a great amount of skill, Iy'dan." Addison dropping any formalities at the moment. When he gave her the tea she gratefully took a sip at it, then made her way to one of the chairs, to take a seat near a small table. "This does hit the spot."
He followed suit, dropping into one of the chairs on the opposite side of his desk than his usual chair. The display still facing them both as they waited for the subspace channel to be established.
"It was a first for me I must admit. I was a science officer. I was then the station first officer so an administrator. This..." he waved a finger back and forth above his head. "This commanding a Starship... Its new to me!"
"Well for your first time, not bad at all. I commanded a civilian ship for a little bit, it was my husband's. When he died I had to take over and keep the traveling clinic alive. Believe you me, I felt a little out of my depth. I managed though. And I agree, managing a station even a hospital is a whole different animal than being on a ship with a small crew." Addison giving an encouraging smile towards Iy'dan. She took another sip of her tea.
There was an interruption, "Bridge to Captain Brell."
"Brell here. Go ahead bridge!" Iy'dan called back almost instantly.
"Incoming message from the station, Captain," it was Commander Emeris. "The Commodore wants to speak with you."
"Pipe it through to my terminal" he called back looking at the Doctor. "I would welcome your input on this Doctor... Unless of course if the Commodore needs this to be a private discussion."
"Of course, Iy'dan." Addison replied with a smile, "Unless of course I am going to be sent out by the Commodore."
Commodore Dazad appeared on the screen from his Office aboard Deep Space 12. On the large display monitor behind him, the local tactical map around Deep Space 12 was visible with a large collection of indicators for Starfleet vessels clustered near to the station. "Commander, what's your status?"
"We have encountered a Kessok vessel... The reception was less than receptive. We have been asked to depart Kessok space. I have extended an invite to their government to send representatives to the station in the hopes we can build some kind of diplomatic ties again but I'm not sure if it will be accepted!"
It was in a nutshell, keeping to just the basics but he did need to talk to the Commodore about the conduct of their science officer. With luck she wouldn't emerge from the science lab again.
"The Kessok situation is something that I would like to discuss with you further upon your arrival back at the station. In the interim, please proceed back here as quickly as possible. Starfleet Command has ordered us to intervene with a situation in the Vayt Sector. I am going to need as many of us here as possible."
"Acknowledged sir. Is there anything we can to while enroute back to the station?" Iy'dan enquired sensing from the Commodore that the situation was a little larger than he was letting on.
Dazad nodded, "I'd recommend keeping your heads low and your ship at Yellow Alert, Commander, because the Romulans are out there."
"Romulans?" putting the Trill instantly on edge, he shared a quick look with the Doctor. "Understood sir... We will be back as quickly as we can!"
Addison gave a quick intake of breath, hearing this news. "Definitely, we'll keep ourselves on the downlow." she said quietly towards Brell and Dazad. A furrow of concern showing.
Dazad looked at the two through subspace, "Good. I'll see you soon. Dazad out!"
Addison glanced back at Brell, "Well looks like we've got our work cut out for us."
"I'm going to ask if you can prepare sickbay... Just in case!"
